Privacy
For the Mezzotale waitlist. Last changed October 2026.
Mezzotale is an independent project based in Ghana. This note covers the waitlist only. When the app itself opens, it will come with its own privacy policy, and nothing you give here is moved into an account without asking you.
What we keep
- Your name and email address.
- Your answers: whether you’d read, write or both, the genres and apps you ticked, and whether you’d pay to keep reading.
- Which of our posts brought you here (a short code in the link), and the website you came from, without the rest of its address.
- When you joined, and that you agreed to this note.
We also count visits to this page each day, per post. That count is a number only: nothing about who visited.
Why
To email you when Mezzotale opens, and to learn what readers and writers want, so we build the right thing. That’s all. We don’t sell your details, share them for advertising, or send newsletters.
We keep them because you agreed to it (your consent). You can withdraw that at any time.
Where it’s kept
In a database run by Neon, in Europe, and served through Cloudflare. Only the Mezzotale team can see names and emails.
Your network address is used for a moment to stop the form being flooded by bots. It’s stored only as a scrambled code that can’t be turned back into the address, and cleared within a day.
How long
Until we send the launch email and for a short while after. If Mezzotale doesn’t open within two years, we delete the list.
Your rights, and how to be removed
You can ask to see what we keep about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, and we’ll do it within 30 days. Write to contact@mezzotale.com from the address you signed up with.
If you’re in Ghana, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission; in the UK or Europe, to your data protection authority. We’d rather hear from you first.
Cookies
The waitlist sets no tracking or advertising cookies. While you’re on the page, your browser remembers the post you came from until you close the tab, so it can be sent with the form.
